“A bike for all types of cycling experience”
After riding the Felt Breed 20 the biggest takeaway was that it’s a bike that offers the rider the best of all worlds.
Before we jump into what makes the bike the way it is , let’s see what components you get right out of the box.
The frame is made from SuperLite aluminum which as the name suggests, makes the overall weight of the bike surprisingly low, it’s advertised as one of the lightest aluminum gravel bikes on the market. You get SRAM Force Cx1 shifters and hydraulic disc brakes, along with an 11-speed, long-cage rear derailleur. They’re combined with a SRAM 11-42 cassette, and a Praxis Zayante Carbon-S crankset with a 40-tooth chainring. The BREED 20 runs a 650b Devox GR.2 wheelset with 47mm wide Vittoria Terreno Dry tubeless ready tires.
I took the bike out for a spin to experience the way it handles different kinds of pavement and the potential appeal it would have to different styles of riders.
To put it simply the Felt Breed 20 is a bike that can do it all. Within reason, this bike will grant you access to all types of cycling experiences. It’s robust enough to take the beating of an off-road session and will grant you a smooth rolling experience on paved roads. Perfect for the city, it will navigate the streets with ease. If you feel adventurous with the bike it can take you to a bike-packing trip as far as your legs can go.
I climbed hills, took on descents, rode on rocky and gravel roads with some steep elevation, navigated busy city streets and felt confident and comfortable. This isn’t the bike that will help you get peak performance numbers at any one discipline. Not that you can’t, I scored some of top 10 Finishes in a couple of segments in my ride. This is a bike that will keep you excited with the many different options of riding it offers. This is a bike that will get you in touch with the roots of cycling which is getting on the saddle having fun.
